  •  What I've never understood (4+ / 0-)

is why everyone seemed to believe that Trayvon started the fight.  Either one of them could have started the fight and I suspect that the fight started when Zimmerman confronted him.  Of course, it really doesn't matter who started the fight because no one should have been shooting.

And I think the answer to your question is exactly what you said.  Even for those of us who are trying to understand and are devastated about the not guilty verdict....it is still hard to fanthom that a group can still be targeted like that in 2013.

    •  I'm honestly not convinced that there was a fight. (6+ / 0-)

I could see GZ shooting him and being like "Oh crap" and hitting himself.

What I said to her is that being followed is weird, and no one with good intentions does that, and she was like you wouldn't fight someone just for following you. I would. I'm trained in Muay Thai and have several "being attacked combos ready". I would first turn around to let the person know I knew they were following me and if they got within striking distance at night, when I was alone? Yeah I'm fighting.

She was then like why didn't he just run away and I'm like "HE DID", just no winning. It's so frustrating though bc I just want people to get it, and on other issues it's just like whatever I give up, but this is my life. I've seen things happen to my brother just bc he's a black male and I envision what life will be like when I have kids and I don't really like it...
