But Obama told Univision on Wednesday that “Kelly has obviously done an extraordinary job in New York,” and that the police commissioner is “one of the best there is” — an “outstanding leader in New York.”

“Mr. Kelly might be very happy where he is,” said Obama. “But if he’s not I’d want to know about it. ‘Cause, you know, obvioiusly he’d be very well qualified for the job.”

    We'll see.

      I find the prospect horrifying.

"The only thing we have to fear is fear itself."........ "The test of our progress is not whether we add more to the abundance of those who have much; it is whether we provide enough for those who have too little." (yeah, same guy.)

one of three things was going on here.   One, he was just being polite (the president probably shouldn't opine on a local issue).  Two, he was being polite to Schumer, who is rattling the cage for Kelly probably only as a means of getting personal attention  (Schumer gives a press conference every Sunday morning on some issue.  He doesn't do shit about the issue afterwards, of course.  The rumor had been that he was furious when Clinton was senator because she took all of the spotlight, despite him being the senior senator.).  Three, he was referring to Kelly's role in counter-terrorism, etc., without thinking about stop and frisk.  Of course, the other possibility is that he will indeed nominate Kelly for the position, which would be another horrible appointment.
