  •  I still remember when in the 1990s (8+ / 0-)

    an indeoendent - Christian bookstore in metro Atlanta kicked a couple of Catholics out for just asking if they carried rosaries. Because they weren't Christians.

    By the early 2000s at least some Georgia Lifeways - a Christian chain pretty much owned  by the SBC and grown directly out of the old Sunday School Board press - weren't carying rosaries but would be glad to special order one for you from the catalog kept hidden behind the counter if you asked about getting one.

    Less than twenty years from not taking someone's money for anything once they'd announced what they were to being willing to broker the purchase of some of their most iconic tradition-specific religious goods.

    But in private, my SBC church still had people discussing the best ways to convert Catholics to 'real Christianity' and I'm pretty sure I remember Lifeway was still carrying at least one book on witnessing to Catholics.
