    Seriously asked

Francis is first Jesuit Pope.  Why?

    And does this mean something?

I'm asking seriously, hoping someone here with history knowledge can answer.

I do know that the Jesuits have a long history of political intrigue in Central and South America, well everywhere.

It's difficult to be happy knowing so many suffer. We must unite.

I could not date the beginning of the intrigue, but let us pick the time when Mussolini gave the Papacy a huge amount of money and the church used that to become a serious secular power in the financial world.  They have always been a serious secular power, but now they had the dough to do all sorts of stuff.  Some could rightly argue earlier dates, but this last period has been mindblowing in the way that the rcxch has totally refocused on their temporal wealth and power, while continuing to trumpet their image as good guys.  The sexual abuse crisis and banking crisis fortunately stripped that facade right off.
