    If we saw the party, fetched the gun, then began the confrontation that might be different than if he began the confrontation, then fetched the gun after tempers flared, then returned to continue the confrontations.

    That's my 2 cents and we all know how much that's worth these days.

      find the gravel bar to be public property or not.

      If I understand correctly, Missouri requires a permit to carry a handgun in public. So if he doesn't have one and carried his handgun onto a public sandbar than he may not have much room to maneuver.
