Assuming this amendment passes, the GOP has the political capital to threaten Impeachment if the President veto's the amendment.  He is violating the constitution.  This could be the 50 year revenge for Watergate.

The democrats in the House and Senate would be in a precarious position.  If they stand with the president they will be named the Orwellian Party, worse than Nixon.

Unfortunately this won't happen.  They'll still cry about Obamacare, the IRS and Benghazi.

      •  One problem: the GOP will never impeach (1+ / 0-)

Obama over something real.  Especially something they already agree with.

Obama: self-described Republican; backed up by right-wing policies

        •  But a lot of Republicans do not agree, (0+ / 0-)

          apparently.

Plus, if they can pick up a number of Democratic votes in the Senate on this issue, this is an issue that could conceivably pick up the required two-thirds of the votes.  Or at any rate come an awful lot closer than on the other charges they've been making.

The influence of the [executive] has increased, is increasing, and ought to be diminished.
