  •  well, we DID make it to the Fair. it was WARM, (9+ / 0-)

and shadeless, but we had a reasonably good time. the driving portion was about the same time as we spent there, but that's OK. I forgot to take my walking stick. big mistake. we DID take water bottles and that was a big help.

food was an "adventure". $9 for a plate of "Hawaiian" chicken & yakitori noodles. HUGE portions, not terribly tasty but edible (shoyu'd before tasting! not a good idea!). DH managed to find a minimally acceptable hamburger & fries. Kiddo decided he'd wait to get home for known-quantity junque-foode and the timing was reasonable so we let him.

filled up the gas @ 3.78 for Costco premium when we got back. Traffic wasn't TERRIBLE, although there was some great big whangdoodle about half-way home... on the far (north-bound) side, although our side slowed to almost a stop for a couple of miles and there wasn't a THING on our side besides looky-lou's, at least by the time we got to the scene of the action: one SUV with a banged-up front end in the center strip. and then a pick-up (towing a BIG trailer) with a banged-up front end, but on the outside edge of that side, and at least a block behind... and then the firetrucks, and ambulances... gotta go online and see what we can see, there was obviously a 3d vehicle involved!

Boy, it was fun until we could see what was going on, because the big slowdown on our side started just before we got to the giant dirty chemical plant (Wa-Chang of Albany OR), so we didn't know for 10 minutes if we were about to drive into a cloud of something exotically toxic or not!

So now we do recovery for the holiday weekend! And see if kiddo can get 2/3s of his week's chores done in one day, tomorrow!

"real" work : a job where you wash your hands BEFORE you use the bathroom...
