    Assuming that I was exploiting or abusing someone simply because they were poorer than me is incredibly offensive.

    There is no evidence that I nor anyone else provided that would lead you to that conclusion.

      It is the fact that the power relationship is so skewed that it becomes abuse.       He is not just "poorer", he lives in a country where there is very little chance to be economically successful.      

      It is the same dynamic as a sexual relationship between an older employer and an employee  who wants to get ahead.

      It is the same as a sexual relationship between a military commander and a private in the field.

      I may not have come to this conclusion except that your friends referred to him as "a hustler".   I found that offensive in the first place.    He is poor and doing what he can to survive.   Maybe he sees you as a hustler?     You are relatively rich and exploiting that power differential.

      Sorry, but thats the way I see it.
