  •  Thank you. I think its harder to use the term (22+ / 0-)

fascist though I think it is apt.  Someone on this site has written and posted a series on the JBS (John Birch Society) bless her heart, from the same kind of perspective that Frank Schaefer brings to the discussion of fundamentalism and dominionism.  They grew up in the homes of some of the most prominent leaders of the movements and can truly tell us what these people think.

When I finally began to look up the historic positions of the JBS and saw all the same anti UN, anti public institutions, anti labor, extreme conspiracy theories (like flouridation scares, not from a health perspective but from a conspiracy to control people perspective), the desire for a Christian theocracy, the gold thing, the white supremacy and antisemitism, the thuggish tactics,  the witch hunts and purges, the fetishizing of the constitution and "founding fathers", etc, etc.  I knew what was going on.

The election of a black President caused this kind of person to freak and come out of the dark lagoon of their own hidden place IMHO.  Maybe it is just in time because we have outed their stealth efforts to control legislation, voting rights, institutions of learning, judicial nominations, media, campaign finance, destruction of all that is public, and the push to radicalize rightward large religious groups like the Catholics.
