  •  This could be the alliance that tips the scales. (12+ / 0-)

In the late 1980's I heard Benjamin Chavis speak at a gathering of many different groups involved with a progressive version of the "United Way" in Atlanta.  I still remember a statement he made that, "If I am an African American leader who cares about the well being of my people, I am required to be an environmentalist."  Why can't Benjamin Jealous, Howard Dean, Richard Trumpka, and  a few top Dems get on a conference call and start working on this alliance from the top down?  That's what has worked so well for the opposition, many of whom are very deeply invested in environmentally destructive enterprises.  Harness the passion of Moral Monday and the Wisconsin state house singers.
