  •  I don't think he's ever been for it. (11+ / 0-)

If he was it would be in process already.  He has a history of standing back and allowing reality to unfold, particularly necessary in a country with a media that's a wholly-owned subsidiary of the GOP.

It's hard for a twitter paced world to deal with this approach, but he almost always gets what he wants AFTER undermining the media narrative so totally that only Rushbots remain True Believers.

If we had a genuine media the time-frames would be cut drastically.

Same deal with Summers and the Fed.  I read that Obama was being HEAVILY lobbied by both sides.  I suspect the leak that Summers was the favorite has accomplished it's purpose- the guy is radioactive now.

When the playing field is heavily tilted you have to play the game differently.  I wish more people could get this.

I'm not looking for a love that will lift me up and carry me away. A love that will stroll alongside and make a few amusing comments will suffice.

    •  It's hard to say with Summers. He may have wanted (2+ / 0-)

to appoint him but wanted to see the reaction first. Toobin wrote a book about Obama's Supreme Court appointments where he mentioned that Obama wanted to appoint Diane Wood instead of Sotomayor. But he realized that Wood will be too controversial and went with Sotomayor instead. Could be the same thing with Summers.
