    becomes especially important in an election year. Essentially, we have a lame duck president who will be even more crippled by this issue.

    This is  why tireless diarists like David are critical to keeping this issue alive all the way into next year. If incumbents feel there is a threat to their continued employment, they will be forced to do the right thing. That's going against their leadership.

    The big challenge is what path do we follow to keep this issue hot for another year plus so the reassurances that are no doubt being given to rank and file members from their leadership fall on deaf ears when bipartisan legislature is resurrected or introduced this year and next. It truly would be amazing if a veto proof majority was created to pass some bills this critical in an election year.  

    Hey, Obama always wanted to be known as a bipartisan leader. I just don't think he quite had this in mind when he was mapping out his desired legacy.
