      This is the exact same info that appears on your phone bill every month, and has for decades.  

      Anything else -- you know, actual surveilance -- still requires a warrant.

        metadata.If you read this you will see that metadata chaining is one of the principle ways the NSA was able to implicate other people as possible terrorists or associates. The multiple hop analysis reveals much about you and your friends. This is something that the phone company never does, since the data is only used to calculate your bill.

        Metadata is essentially a tool to data mine for information about you and your associates. Not benign at all.
