    ...in law enforcement who think that, once convicted, guilt or innocence is irrelevant. They're afraid that if the public sees too many overturned convictions, they'll lose faith in the justice system. For me, that ship sailed long ago.

    There is also the obscene Randian belief that whatever misfortune befalls someone is deserved, no matter what the reason. It's what they get for not being rich enough to protect themselves.
