  •  I read an article that medical professionals (5+ / 0-)

    do choose not to have cancer treated more than non-professionals.  They know how miserable the side-effects can be and choose to enjoy what life they have rather than be miserable for a few more months of life.  Not sure is this applies to N.

      It was quite thought-provoking. (For those who wish to read it, it's called "How Doctors Die"). Having so many near dealing with cancer lately, it was a big mental morsel to chew on.

      I don't think it reflected N's motives, but can't really know, of course. For all I know, N was giving friends and relations a middle finger. Or embracing the inevitable. Or just didn't want to deal with other people's drama. Or be a bother.

      I suppose these things are as personal as they get.
