  •  Senator Iselin (0+ / 0-)

For those who are not movie buffs, Iselin was a central character in the classic film the Manchurian Candidate.  Something of a buffoon, he engaged in nonsensical witch hunts against alleged communists which led a more sympathetic character to denounce him on the grounds that he could not have done more damage to America if he himself were a paid agent of the Soviet Union.  And all the while, the real danger was lurking unseen right under his nose.

In the same vein, no one denies the possibility of government misconduct.  Yet the hysterical conspiracy theories being spun on this and other diaries go a long way to discredit the Left as a conspiracy of dunces.  Sensible people will point to this diary, if they are aware of dkos at all, and laugh at the loonies while using it as a pretext to ignore anything said by would be reformers.

So when the NSA reform movement peters out into squabbling and mutual recriminations, remember that you folks played a significant role in bringing this end about.  By forcefully alienating your natural allies and wasting fabulous amounts of time on lunatic missions, you guaranteed that the forces of disruption and delay would triumph.

Which hurts America, more than you ever could if you all were paid NSA agents.

    In the end

Assassinations, Intimidation, Psychological Warfare, Misinformation, And Other Illegal Tactics
will have been enabled by your very actions.
