  •  6 inch curbs.. (17+ / 0-)

Oh, I hate those, especially when the wheelchair ramp is narrow, easy to be parked in, and WAY away from anything else. It's like the owner of the property just doesn't want to be bothered with disabled people. And what's with people taking smoke breaks in the middle of wheelchair ramps lately? Or using them for bicycle parking? I've been tempted with some stores to start carrying a bolt cutters with me just so I can get up the ramp into a store. That railing isn't there for you to chain your bike to.

FloridaSNDad one time, when he had a hover round, went to the convenience store for something we were out of (probably milk). Well the beer guy had been in and set up this huge display of glass bottles at the end of one isle, and apparently misjudged the width by like 3 inches. Dad is legally blind and has little depth perception, thought he could make it through and knocked about 20 cases of beer onto the floor. The store manager was there at the time, couldn't stop apologizing, called the beer distributor right there, and made them reimburse us for the hover round tire when they replaced it (flat from the glass getting the chair back out of there).  And I never saw an end cap display of glass bottles in that store again after.
But we were a regular in that store, and the owner's daughter was in a chair.
