    Your coverage of the struggle of these semi-aquatic critters to survive in the desert is utterly fascinating.

    I marvel at your description of nature's crowding of the tadpole/toad's cycle into a few days, contrasted with a 1 or 2-year period for some frogs.

    Our native Oregon frogs have a compressed tadpole/frog cycle of just a few months; short but not as dramatic as your toads.

    I did get a little weepy-eyed reading about you plucking up 6 tadpoles and bringing them home.  I'm too soft hearted.

      I found it illuminating that your home-grown toads were no bigger than the ones in the disappearing pond.

    It's great you took advantage of the seasonal rain to document these events.
