  •  I am of the mind that people like that should be (16+ / 0-)

    sentenced thusly:

Component a) Live for the first year of sentencing in an apartment in the most run-down, mismanaged, dangerous housing projects in the state; for the second year, in a bed in the least-regulated, highest mortality-rate nursing home in the state; and for the third year, homeless on the streets wearing a tracking band around their ankles.  For all three years, all their assets should be frozen and seized for the to make it harder for them to draw on them in case of flight.

Component b) Be required to live on foodstamps and take public transportation.  Be required to live on the minimum wage income that an individual would earn working just less than 40 hours a week, after taxes.  All other sources of income will be held and saved until sentencing has been completed.

Component c) Be denied health insurance coverage for the period of sentencing.

I think this would be a highly educational and reformist mode of sentencing corrupt politicians of McDonnell's ilk.

That's one more thing to add to my long list of small problems. --my son, age 10

    •  Component (d): No gifts in cash or kind (7+ / 0-)

not from your brother, your cousin, your best friend from high school, your mother, and certainly not from the lobbyists and corporation guys you did favors for while you were in office.

Otherwise, the rest of the components are meaningless -- it's easy to live on food stamps when your rich buddies are providing for you, and easy to live in public housing when you have an endless series of invitations to the vacation homes of your rich friends.
