    g a firearm would be a great way to do it. The licensing could be done by the states since states/municipalities are set up in a much better way to do this, but having a uniform standard would be a great idea.

      Using the criteria that we should focus only on what has a reasonable chance of being implemented, I can't see that registration passes muster.  Too many people view it as an infringement on their rights, from what I've seen.  While we could compare it to voting and voter registration, I think given the political climate that we wouldn't get it through, much like the other gun bills that failed earlier this year.

        about all Republicans and quite a few Democrats this does not have any chance of passing.  I still have not been told by anyone how licensing violates any right - sure it may be inconvenient, just like registering to vote, but that doesn't make it a violation of any right. (I was not talking about registration although that would also be great and violate nobody's rights either, or at least no one can tell me what right it violates.)
