  •  Yes, times have changed (12+ / 0-)

This site was and is dedicated to electing more and better Dems.

In case you haven't noticed, we HAVE elected more and better Dems.

We now have Elizabeth Warren in the Senate. Al Franken too. Kirstan Gillibrand, Sherrod Brown, Maria Cantwell, Jeff Merkley, Patty Murray. Jon Tester is better than his predecessor.

In the House we have Alan Grayson replacing the odious Allen West. Jerry McNerney defeated the even more odious Richard Pombo. Tammy Duckworth. Donna Edwards.

And before you get on a rant about Obama, is he a better Dem? Better than either Clinton? You Bet!

Do we need to elect even more and better Dems? Of course.

Do we need to criticize Dems when they screw up? Of course, and we do.

But right now it's more important to take any power that the Republicans have away from them. Sometimes that means holding our tongue before repeating right-wing memes and badmouthing Dems.

Times have changed. And they will change more in the future. When we can finally start talking turkey about real issues and real solutions (after we have defeated enough Republicans to make them irrelevant) than we can be a lot more critical of the Dems.

Given that it looks like Hillary is likely to be the next Dem Pres candidate, and likely President, you just proclaimed that we're about to go from better to worse Presidentially, which weakens your overall argument.  Although arguably, I'm not sure whether Obama is better than Clinton.  His continued push for Free Trade is every bit as bad for the US, and the TPP is shaping up to be worse than NAFTA for the US.  Realistically, he and the Clintons are politically extremely similar, and the things we might call 'better' are simply a matter of what is politically expedient nowadays that weren't a decade and a half ago.

This needs to be tattooed on quite a few eyelids around here.  Some folks either don't know how damaging re-enforcing right wing memes and Dem bashing is.

Or they don't care.  Not sure which is scarier.
