    Those who did it should be punished.  Saying that Manning was a grown man who took an oath when he joined the AF voluntarily.  Nobody forced him to do that.  He had classified security training and knew the consequences of his actions.  I don't think that his saying he did what he did for the US is any kind of excuse for his actions.  Any government person who has top secret clearance can leak all kinds of classified information from the US and say the same thing, but again is no excuse.  If he would have gone thru the IG, his commander he would have done the right thing.  He might have eventually lost his job, but he would not have gone to jail.  He chose to do things his way and to me was the wrong way.  And obviously the court decided the same thing.

      Manning's statement says that he accepts the price of his actions. He doesn't say anyone forced him to take the oath.

      What was the right way for Manning to expose the various war crimes and other extreme abuses he was let in on in Iraq?
