Nixon, should have gone to jail and sent a message to all politicians that they are not above the law.

    •  9/11 was an impeachable offense (6+ / 0-)

The utter disregard on the part of the Bush administration for the repeated warnings it was given about Al Qaeda represents the most grotesque instance of criminal negligence in this nation's history.  As such, it should have merited impeachment.

So too should the outing of Valerie Plame.

The blatant lies leading to the Iraq War.  Not to mention the fact that the war itself violated international law.

On the other hand, John Kerry looks French and Al Gore is fat now. So what do I know??????

At the time, I thought, "Ford's trying to avoid that whole Caesar-at-the-Rubicon thing."

Pompey and the Optimates hadn't given Caesar an out.  If he stayed in Gaul, he'd be hunted down as a rebel.  If he went back to Rome, he'd be put on trial and probably executed.

The river Rubicon was the border between Gaul and Italy.  By crossing it with his army, Caesar would be at war with the Optimates.  "Alea iacta est," and all that.

Like Ford would actually think such things.  It was a done deal when he became VP, a pardon for the presidency.

Now I'm all in favor of locking up as many corrupt politicians as possible.  Man, have we got a lot of them!
