  •  It was just a little later than August for me.. (5+ / 0-)

November of 2006 to be precise, almost a year since Sue had found the lump in her breast, after the chemotherapy and surgery, when she started to have some symptoms that might have been a kidney stone. Her MRI didn't show much, but a chest film looked a little off, and a couple of weeks of antibiotics didn't help. She was having more trouble with breathing, and an ultrasound showed a huge pleural and pericardial effusion, as well as new mets on MRI that weren't even there two weeks before. I was home, by myself, when I looked up the results of her brain MRI - and I remember very distinctly a feeling like you describe, as if someone had emptied all the oxygen from the room, and you gasp for breath to no avail, when I saw "four likely metastatic lesions" on the summary. And I remember reading one entry after another, through the following years as a baby Kossack, knowing that others had walked my path. It fed my soul then, and it does now, PC. "Thanks" is nowhere near enough.
