    the same stores, in a sense, to get a portion of your money back (they overcharge you if you don't play the game).

    Ultimately I want to break free of the major chains, but that takes time and I'm very busy right now like you.

    In Los Angeles you could go to ethnic markets and escape the corporations (those chains will probably change too), but all this takes time.

    But I can relate ;)

      In Texas the worst offender is Randalls.

      I swear, they hike their rates almost 40% just to cut it down to within $.25 of a reasonable price, ofter erring on the side of charging more, not less.

      Ethnic markets are always the way to go for me if possible, even if they cost more. I miss that about living in Metro Boston.

      The place was utterly dark—the oubliette, as I suppose, of their accursed convent.
