  •  Health, education & jobs are related to (7+ / 0-)

Civil rights since the country has been failing many people especially us the hated POC forever.

Civil rights helps with jobs education & health since the government has been on the side of evil oppression since its founding. Until we have the power & the money, many in the majority race will keep fucking with us & blaming us for all the ills in America.

White people don't get to decide what is fair & square & that there isn't racism. We do.

    •  So horribly ironic days after the 50th anniversary (5+ / 0-)

of the March for Jobs and Freedom.

Civil liberties and economic justice have nothing to do with one another, of course.

The party of Kennedy is also the party of Eastland. The party of Javits is also the party of Goldwater. Where is our party? Where is the political party that will make it unnecessary to march on Washington?

        with each other.

A man with a job have many more freedoms than one without.

I hope that the quality of debate will improve,
but I fear we will remain Democrats.

        •  I know a man who says just the opposite (1+ / 0-)

He is homeless, an out of work aerospace engineer who worked in the aerospace industry.

He spoke of how they took his pension, lost his house, and caused him so much grief that he feels liberated as a homeless man without all the oppression from banks he owes money to.

That aside, this is a big strawman. No one said these other issues aren't important. What do you think OWS was about (and before answering, remember that I was involved with Occupy in my area... I know full well why we were all there).

Never said jobs aren't important. I happen to need one, too.

I don't have health care insurance. I could use that too.

Education? I owe 65,000 in student loans. I wish I could have gotten an education without going in hock to the banksters for the rest of my life, a life which the banks now own.

So, jobs? Health care? Education? What do you think OWS was all about?

Tell me about it. But without civil rights, we are nothing but property. It is because of rights that we become more than serfs, that we become free people.

And that is an issue that affects everyone. And as an individual, that is important to me. No one tells me what I can or can't care about. Why? Because that is democracy, and that is my right. It is not a privilege.

You argument is one big strawman concocted to dismiss criticism. Shame.
