    Definitely in the case of the late Bassel Assad.  For example, the little shrine to him at the bank in Hasseke - photo taped to the wall, vase with fake flower and candle on filing cabinet below.  His face used to be everywhere, but I imagine not so much, anymore.  

    And the back of every taxi used to have stickers of the Syrian trinity - the father (Hafez), the son (Bassel and then later Bashar) and the holy ghost (Baath party dove).
