  •  The Cost of Nukes (17+ / 0-)

I abhor the toll this nuke disaster is taking on lives, whether human, other animals, or otherwise, on land, in the air and in the waters. The loss and damage is incalculable.

I wonder how much the Fukushima nuke disaster will wind up costing to "fix". Surely much damage will never be averted, but we'll be forced to merely accept it. Both in Japan and in the world's Pacific Ocean. But in actual accountable costs, including dollar value on lives and health, how much will Fukushima cost? Including recycling the plant site to a place fit for life again.

Added to the costs of Chernobyl, and to Three Mile Island, and to the Hanford nukes factories/dumps, and to all the Russian Navy's nuke cores dumped on the sea floor around Eurasia (and possibly elsewhere)... And the costs in public labs for engineering given to energy corps like Tepco and their global cronies, and the costs of mining the fuel and absorbing its industrial pollution, and the costs of storing/processing the waste, projected into the millennia...

What's the actual cost per kilowatt of nukes power? Per kilowatt, since the 1950s, including all these costs the corporations get to externalize into costs absorbed by the public, and the other living things who must all accept the damage?

Budget in the 1/2 trillion and trillion dollar military budgets and you're looking at some serious sticker shock at the pump and at walmart.

won't be safe for humans for several thousand years, if that soon.  As far as I'm concerned, the cost is infinite.

THE COST IS TOO DAMN HIGH!
