  •  Obama postponed the deadline til 2015 (7+ / 0-)

for companies with 50 or more employees.

I'm not sure what all this BS is about.  What are these employees complaining about?  If they're already providing health insurance, what's the big deal?

    •  Some companies do... (7+ / 0-)

Many do not.  For instance, I know that Lowes defines 'part-time' as anybody with less than 40 hours right now.  But here is the thing - nobody gets over 40 hours because they do not want to pay over time.  Even the 'full-timers'.  The ACA now states that 'full-time' is anybody working over 30 hours - regardless of what your paperwork may say.  So now, all these companies that have a bunch of 'full-time-part-timers' are scrambling.  And you are right.  Starbucks, according to my understanding, already provides health insurance to employees working less than 40 hours.  So it is probably no change to their accounting.

    •  Correction: "employers" (5+ / 0-)

The employers who already provide insurance should continue to do so, ACA isn't a factor in that.

If they're not providing insurance now, they won't be penalized for it in 2014 and probably beyond.  I can't see Obama enforcing that employer requirement in 2015 or any time.
