Their hateful sermons are not pleasing to God ...
    Really? How do you know?

Look up the No True Scotsman fallacy before you answer.

    •  Seems to be the general problem (4+ / 0-)

people who pretend or think they're talking to God and who use that illusion to claim moral leverage.

      •  I cannot believe the sheer effrontery of people (2+ / 0-)

who are always telling God what to do.

By prayer or cursing folks, or anything else they can get their forked little tongues to say.

Real plastic here; none of that new synthetic stuff made from chicken feathers. By the morning of 9/12/2001 the people of NYC had won the War on Terror.

they claim you are "ob de debil" as Bobby Boucher's mom would say.  Sorry if you don't get the reference I am old.

threadjacking. Christian-bashing in a diary about the sins of pseudo-Christians is not HRable, but skates close to the edge.

There are times when it is appropriate not to answer a fool according to his folly, as atheists see the matter. This is not one of them.

      •  It's interesting how ... (0+ / 0-)

Christians feel they have the right to tell the atheists when criticism is appropriate.

I was dragged unwillingly to a Southern Baptist fundamentalist style church for years as a kid, and phrasings that come from that tradition are triggers for me. That "pleasing to God" phrase was one of them.

Note that I didn't mock the general tenets of the religion. All I did was question the blanket statement that one person's belief in what God wants was obviously wrong.

Even the Bible has several verses that essentially say "no one knows the mind of God".

If you think that's HR-able, then go ahead.

has many meanings depending on who you're talking to. There is a particular church in Topeka KS, calling themselves the Westboro Baptist Church, one would believe that might mean it's a Christian Church, and I'm sure they believe that they are, in my opinion nothing could be further from the truth, based not on what they call themselves, rather based on their conduct -- and self-delusion does not circumvent the teaching of Jesus on love and forgiveness. In my opinion it is a hate mongering church, against gays, Jews and anyone that does not agree with its hate speech. (see http://en.wikipedia.org/...)

What will Jesus tell all of these people on the day or reckoning(?) see NIV Luke 13:

"26 “Then you will say, ‘We ate and drank with you, and you taught in our streets.’

27 “But he will reply, ‘I don’t know you or where you come from. Away from me, all you evildoers!’

28 “There will be weeping there, and gnashing of teeth, when you see Abraham, Isaac and Jacob and all the prophets in the kingdom of God, but you yourselves thrown out."
