  •  Actually, yes (17+ / 0-)

Not a single Republican?  Yet Boehner had time for his own ceremony.

If Boehner and Cantor didn't want to show, I would think they'd cast their net to find some senator, representative, or governor--or even mayor--willing to make an appearance.

But not a single one.  Yes, that surprises me.  It seems like a deliberate and unspoken boycott by GOP leadership.

Considering there are 279 currently serving GOP members of congress per the Offices of the Clerk of the House and Senate, as well as hundreds of past GOP members living in DC working as lobbyists, could the witness suggest other explanations for the complete absence of any GOP elected officials considering that there were ZERO in attendance?

Perhaps the GOP members didn't have appropriate voter ID to present?

We still persist in thinking well of our fellow-citizens, and our fellow-humans, no matter how often or convincingly they show us we shouldn't.
Frustrating as it may be, it is part of what makes us Teh Good Guyz (of all genders).

well of any national Republican.  Their minds just do not function the same way.  They are bullies and only respond to power.  Look at Bush v. Gore and tell me that it isn't true.

that their "efforts" to bring in more minority voters is a bunch of bullshit. Of course no republicans showed up because they know, like we do, that they don't give a damn about racial equality or any equality for that matter. So why even subject themselves to people who can clearly see through said bullshit? Let them double down on the old white people vote and get swept up into the dustbin of history.

With his taunting speech content at the NAACP.   This strain of conservatism has transparency at least on one level, and it doesn't take a "nattering nabob of negativity" to figure it out.
