    If removing the FICA cap as suggested by viper1945 and others is TOO much of a burden for smaller wealthy people, how about a donut hole?  Keep the cap as is but add a FICA tax on every dollar over a million per year?  Upscale lawyers, doctors, etc. with incomes between the current cap (about $113K) and a million would pay no more than they do now.

    Besides, I find the term "donut hole" a form of poetic justice in contrast to the Medicare donut hole, which limits benefits rather than taxes, created by wealthy lobbyists.
