There's a fair amount of manufacturing in Maine that could fall under the umbrella of "medical devices", depending on definitions.  This could just be case of taking care of business at home.

OTOH I haven't fact-checked this - just know that there's more than 1 such company in the Portland area.

The way to respond to the outrageous is with outrage; the way to respond to the ridiculous is with ridicule.

    •  There are probably such businesses in every state (0+ / 0-)

but AFAIK it's not a particularly large industry in Maine.

Even if that were the case, as many have pointed out here and elsewhere, the tax is justified- and the trade-off Collins offered (the pension accounting gimmick) would arguably hurt as many constituents as the repeal of the medical device tax would help.

Just kind of interesting that of all the possible compromises she could have offered, she choose the one that would benefit an industry that recently fundraised for her.

and cost 800,000 workers a paycheck or two just to prove a point and help a contributor?
