  •  This statement is just flat out wrong (14+ / 0-)
The more regulation you have in any industry the less competition you have.
Hasn't this guy ever played Monopoly? The less regulation, the more you get monopolies who will charge more and give less. It's just basic economics.

It has to be heavily regulated to make sure that the bad faith players don't have an advantage. You have to force these creeps to do the right thing. They will not do it on their own.

It's who they are. They are like race horses that have to be reined in.

    •  See, but the argument they make (0+ / 0-)

is that only government can create monopolies, by stifling competition with regulations.

Which is a bullshit argument, of course.  And I don't believe for a minute that people like Amash or any of the other libertarian politicians actually buy this argument.

The key is, and this is what they've managed to do, to convince people that deregulation of business is actually ANTI-corporate and ANTI-big business, since it means the government can't collude with those businesses to create monopolies and what have you.

Of course, the argument falls apart when you realize that less regulation also means they can get away with more.  But the people who believe the libertarian arguments about the free market aren't smart enough to realize that.  And the leaders of that movement don't need to answer that question, because all they have to do is go "Well, uh....FREE MARKET!" and all their little dumbass sociopathic cronies start cheering again.
