    argument about utilities too, how it would supposedly lead to better and cheaper service, and we Californians are still paying for it.

      Some other Californians ::cough::Los Angelenos::cough:: had socialized utilities during the electrical scams and avoided all that nonsense.

      I live in LA. My power stayed on, my rates stayed reasonable. I'm billed a couple of extra bucks per month so the city can subsidize low income, senior and disabled customers. I get a pamphlet every year explaining the water quality test results for my tap water (it's better than most bottled water). City crews just came through and cleaned accumulated sediment out of our storm drains and sewers.

      I'm not suggesting everyone move to LA to take advantage of socialism, rather, to take advantage of more socialism than the average American citizen benefits from, but you might want to think about getting your local municipality to buy out your local private utility company and bring it in house. There are definite benefits.
