  •  Amash won't get his ass handed to him. (0+ / 0-)

That district has only had two Dem representatives in the 20th/21st centuries.  One from 1911-13, the other from 1974-77.

It's a conservative Republican area, and they seem to like it that way.

Most likely he's safe.  But in wave elections, even a joker like Amash can end up under water.

If at all possible, folks in the district should try to get someone serious to run against him.  It's often not fun, and it's asking a lot of somebody to do it.  But you can't beat idiots like this with nobody.

It would be freakish if a Democrat run.  But sometimes, just giving an SOB a scare is worth the effort.

Quote of the week: "They call themselves bipartisan because they're able to buy members of both parties," (R. Eskow, Campaign for America's Future.)

      •  Oh, we should definitely run someone. (0+ / 0-)

But I wouldn't get our hopes up of actually winning.  This seat and the 11th seem to keep coming up on people's lists of good pickup opportunities next year.  Both of these seats are Republican enough that we won't win them in a normal year, and they'd still be difficult to win in a Democratic wave year.
