    when I cut my thumb with a kitchen knife recently. And the long and the short of it is, as a patient, you have no access to anyone who can give you the information you need to make an informed comparison about where to go for treatment. All you get are after-hours answering services and phone "support" drones who have no idea about anything that isn't in the script. And in the end, it all depends on what your insurance company will pay for anyway. And your employer chooses your insurance company, not you.

    Where's the competition? In the HR department, when the insurance companies compete for employers' benefits contracts.
