  •  Lawyers ruin a lot of stuff (4+ / 0-)

For instance, take wine (please - I'll have the chardonnay). Some years ago, a class-action lawyer was suing wineries because they used a lead seal on the outside of the bottle to seal it up, as has been done for thousands of years. Note that this lead seal covered the glass (no one drinks the glass) and the cork, and thus never touched the wine. There is a possibility that some molecules of lead remain on the glass after removal. Many wineries were sued, and many were sued simply to get up to the class-action status.

Lawyers are very damaging at times. They hurt businesses, because a lot of this crap is made-up bullshit. It's nothing more than a protection racket - Got a nice little winery there buddy - too bad you are using those lead seals - Hand over $10,000 or we go to court....

Like tobacco and seat belts and hey, the Pinto.  Fucking lawyers, right?

Jesus effing Christ.  You're OK with lead on wine bottles.  See you in court fool.

      •  Do you drink wine? (1+ / 0-)

Have you ever opened a bottle? The lead on a bottle is totally uninvolved with the drinking of wine. TOTALLY. NO INVOLVEMENT AT ALL, unless you are an idiot.

It's idiotic statements like yours that costs businesses millions and costs hundreds of thousands of votes from otherwise sympathetic persons from the Democrats to the Republicans.

        •  You don't know what you're talking about (0+ / 0-)

You could easily get some the lead in your system if they put it on the bottle.

Why is it necessary to put lead on a wine bottle?  Because it helps businesses?

Really fucking stupid argument you got there.

        •  Yet several years before the lead foil was banned (0+ / 0-)

by the FDA there was this"  Fisher, Lawrence M. (1991-08-02). "Lead Levels in Many Wines Exceed U.S. Standards for Water". The New York Times. Retrieved 2010-01-02." (From a Wiki article on wine.)
And the less lead that becomes environmental pollution the better we are.

        sometimes to stupid results.

        Seems fairly obvious.
