Obama already gave him a "red line".... and balked.

If this thing goes through, we are saying OK OK, but this time we really REALLY mean it!

And once Assad gasses more of his people there will be another---OK, but that's it!  No more!  We REALLY REALLY mean it this time!

Assad knows this.  he knows we are war weary.  What in the world makes you think he that he woudl think we would be serious this time.

I recall Neville Chamberlain getting a non-aggression pact signed by Hitler... completely meaningless.  Dictators don't respect pacts.  This thing is a joke.

I understand not wanting to get involved in Syria.  Which is why Obama NEVER should have threatened if he didn't want to follow through.

I don't think the rest of your comment makes much sense. I'll leave it to others to decipher.

more likely. After another round of playing "What about Benghazi and Fast and Furious?!"

    •  FYI, it's nigh-verboten to ever use Chamberlain (0+ / 0-)

as a historical analogy.  No matter how well one thinks the analogy applies to a given situation, it's pretty much off limits.

You can thank Godwin for that.  He wrote his law to rightly call out the phenomenon of overuse of any analogies that have anything to do with WWII or the Third Reich in general.  But now people use his law as an essential ban on any use of such analogies whatsoever.

So whenever you find yourself tempted to use such an analogy, do yourself a favor and use a different one, lest face ridicule.  Kerry hasn't leaned that lesson, and he paid the price.

      •  That bastard. Made it so damned hard for you (0+ / 0-)

to pretend that every dictator is another Hitler.

That's half your toolkit left out rusting in the rain, that is.
