    In a way it's easier for the president if the House votes down the Syria resolution.  He can say that he took two principled stands -- in favor of enforcing the CW "red line" and in favor of consulting with congress on military action.  

    Yes, the blathering idiots at Politico and the other beltway-media ninnies will cluck that the president expended political capital and came up empty -- but so what.  Harry Truman was the best president of the 20th century and spent the last six years of his presidency constantly getting "no's" from the GOP-controlled congress.
