    They test the subjects - I was favorably impressed.

    I think the onus is on those claiming the questions are bad to present specific bad questions and explain why they are bad.

      It is much harder than the SAT math. You can expect across the board failure for all the urban schools.

      Also- we are left again with the monomaniacal focus on math and english. Why is there no science test? No biology? No computer science? no history? no civics?

        It was a bit elementary compared to what you have on the Chinese gaokao (their equivalent of the SAT) but still a lot better than the New York Regents which I remember quite well.

        I agree that it is harder than SAT math.  So?  The SAT math is a joke - if you ace it you're slightly overqualified for making change.

        You can expect across the board failure for all the urban schools.
        So?

        If our urban schools are failing we should measure that, trumpet it to the nation, and find a way to fix the education of urban children, not find tests that we can claim they passed.
