we are still wringing our hands and stressing over him.

The GOP has about a year at most to COMPLETELY change course, stop obstructing everything, and eject and repudiate the Tea Party. Failing that, Christie cannot and will not be the candidate. The teabaggers that control the primary process and have the party's balls in a vise will not allow it. They will point  out that they grudgingly allowed the party to pick "liberal" candidates in 2008 and 2012 and they lost because they were too "liberal." And they are going to destroy Christie the minute he tries to poke his head up.

If the GOP stays where it is, I cannot even imagine what kind of candidate they are going to vomit up.

Ed FitzGerald for governor Of Ohio. Women's lives depend on it.

"Christie is way more dangerous, etc." assuming the GOP returns to sanity. You are right, he's far too rational for today's Republicans, and has other liabilities for them, too: he's from a coastal blue state, he may be too plain-spoken for some of the more "godly" repugs, and I hate to say it, but his weight would be a major problem.

But if they ever come to their senses, watch out. The regional press loves him, and I think he'd charm the national press, too.

"The only thing we have to fear is fear itself."........ "The test of our progress is not whether we add more to the abundance of those who have much; it is whether we provide enough for those who have too little." (yeah, same guy.)
