My Mom is on Medicare through her State Pension Plan and she is being sent letters telling her if she doesn't have a bunch of far from risk free tests done - including regular mammograms and colostomy her premiums will go through the roof. The colostomy is particularly ill advised since she is a 74 year old diabetic who had one five years ago and they are now only recommended once at age 50 if there aren't known risks since it is such a slow moving cancer, not to mention it is very rare in woman.

    •  That seems to be a very stupid Advantage plan. (3+ / 0-)

She could opt for plain vanilla Medicare.

Even mammograms are not necessary for most by that age.

Someone is trying to run up costs and rip off Medicare. If what you say is true she should keep those letters and send copies to the HHS with a possible fraud complaint.

I'm asking you to believe. Not in my ability to bring about real change in Washington ... *I'm asking you to believe in yours.* Barack Obama
