it's a series of gaffe ridden blunders.  It's actually Official United States Policy.  Feel better now?

You may think that. I couldn't possibly comment.-- Francis Urqhart

    •  You mistake me. I'm not saying it's good policy. (0+ / 0-)

But if you seriously think Kerry was off the reservation in his table-thumping, Godwinesque bellicosity, you've got another think coming.

It can't even be just rhetorical clumsiness (aka gaffes) because he hit the same damned talking points (bad ones) over and over again. Do you seriously think if Obama had a problem with what he was doing that Kerry would not have received a phone call telling him to stop it after the first speech?

The Secretary of State (position) is like a highly skilled extra-prestigious version of Jay Carney, a Jay Carney intended for talking to the rest of the world. S/he is a mouthpiece for the Administration, and particularly for the POTUS. I see nothing in this episode that makes me think that's changed.

Kerry was meant to be the crazy bellicose irrational dumb bad cop. Obama and Hagel were supposed to sit a bit further out of the spotlight looking judicious and being good cops (more or less).

The party of Kennedy is also the party of Eastland. The party of Javits is also the party of Goldwater. Where is our party? Where is the political party that will make it unnecessary to march on Washington?
