interest.  This is just an opportunity to poke Summers in the eye.  Don't fool yourself into thinking policy will be effected in any meaningful way.

    •  There are few prominent Americans more deserving (10+ / 0-)

of a poke in the eye than Larry Summers.

    •  Disagree. (11+ / 0-)

Summers is, to say the least, tainted by his previous history of failures, which are certain to affect his judgements in the future given his enormous ego, and by his current consulting gig with Citigroup and previous corporate connections, which anyone denying will bias his actions as Fed chair is blind to reality.

Yellen has no such baggage and has been right on economic projections when Summers has been wrong.  And, of course, the personality differences are huge and If you don't think these differences won't influence Fed policy decisions given the power of the Chair to shape the Fed's policy, then you are kidding yourself.

    •  no, but does he have to smack us in the face (4+ / 0-)

      while doing it.

i get the no real difference thing, but ya'd think Obama would i dunno, not rub salt in our wounds almost every frickin time.

that's bad PR, and a great many of us on the left side of the base have felt the sting over and over and over and over.

i mean, we worked to get him elected in 2008 and many did again in 2012.

why does Obama hate us so much?
