      have. But if so that leadership wouldnt be welcome on government controlled territory, do you think?

      either the russian diplomat would have to have visited rebel territory, which I find not especially likely since it would be an automatic snub to Assad, their supposed partner.

      Or Those "parties" are indeed what the word indicates, namely political opposition groups existing within government held territory, and not in active armed fight against that regime. That I find much much more likely. Both in the implied complexity of the actual political situation within government-Syria, and in that the Russia´s preferred showcased "opposition" would be not the same as the US´ one.
