    It's not the same thing as a "moderate".

    A moderate is a sell-out that moves to the middle.

    A centrist is principled and starts out in the middle.

    My own definition, of course.

      to take a position halfway between itself and the Republican position. Of course, that's only possible if the Democratic position IS the Republican one, but that requires too much thinking for them. Their notion of balance has no connection to the real world, if the Democrats are much closer to any true center--indeed, they're beyond it already, it would tax their brains too much.
