  •  You mean when 'familia' meant 'household (0+ / 0-)

slave' and to do anything the Oldest Male didn't want done could get you killed at his instruction? Breaking with that established tradition?

Do you mean being prevented from telling people about a different way of valuing and social relations didn't bring a 'curse' upon the close-minded by itself?

Were you referring to the men who voluntarily left their families to establish something across the nation as a band as it was the only practical way to do it? They could have said no, any where along the way, even up to their, often, cruel deaths.

You mean that Christ living in time-and-space and so had to, like all of us, triage our choices and resources according to what purposes they were engaged in? You mean that Christ who shocked the establishment, and made enemies, by asserting that humanly decent behavior by a non-member of the tribe made the non-member better than a member who ignored suffering?

While you're at it, why don't you throw in there were doubtless tens of thousands he didn't have time to heal.

Here's how you don't get the important distinctions: you don't know anything about context or history, and you have an ax to grind.

Here's what followed his life: for the first time in recorded human history the worth of the Individual trumped service and position within the State, Class, Tribe, and Family. It's up to you what you choose. Before that, you were a cog in those machines and there were no other imaginable options.

"for the first time in recorded human history the worth of the Individual trumped service and position within the State, Class, Tribe, and Family."

Did you really mean to make this statement?  Talk about a stretch of imagination and a rather shallow knowledge of history!   First of all, the words put into the mouth of a fabled character by four different authors over at least six or more decades is not really something that warrants serious consideration.  Second, the words put in the mouth of this character were not original!  You can find these teachings in many other cultural ideas and said by many other cultural and religious groups.

Apologetics... gotta love them!  Of course this figure couldn't heal everyone. But he didn't meet everyone. He DID meet the Canaanite woman discussed in Matthew (as reported), and he tell his disciples to turn her away because he came only for the Jews.  Now you can try to twist this any way you want, but anyone with any ounce of intelligence reading this story can see that he did NOT follow his own teachings.

He did not shock the authorities at that time because the whole passion story was a fabrication. What is not a fabrication is how this concoction changed the world because the adherents to it were willing to kill millions of people to promote it.  It might be very helpful to you to do some more digging into history and try real hard not to use Christian apologetics sources.

This illustrates the magic of Jesus. People can pull anything they want out of these stories to justify their world view. Thus we have the never ending debate on what this all means.  We are basically arguing the meanings of mythologies and superstitions.
