    clear-cutting has anything to do (in the U.S.?) with fruit & veg agriculture seems ... a bit ... unusual?

    In Oregon, clear-cuts get re-planted with trees. And forestry takes place at elevations and contours (REALLY steep, mountainous) that would not lend themselves to ag of almost any sort.

    I know that in SE Asia forests are being clearcut for industrial "food" operations like coconut oil plantations, but that's not exactly "fruit and veg ag."  The forest clear-cutting in S. Am. usually goes to cattle lands and sugar cane for ethanol. Again, not "fruit and veg"

    can you provide some more info, please? I really am curious.

    (PS I also agree that there are too many humans, not because we can't feed them but because the number of humans who want to live Western-style use too much resources and make too much pollution for current technology to deal with appropriately.)

    "real" work : a job where you wash your hands BEFORE you use the bathroom...
