Young people currently in their late teens and early twenties are happy with a neo lib like Obama because he is so much better than George Dubya. (And Obama's friends with Jay Zee!)They have no idea of who FDR was, or what his policies accomplished, so how can they care that those policies have been destroyed?!

I grew up in the fifties and sixties. There were decent documentaries on Mainstream TV.

Also, the news people were well educated and sensitive. Many of the major prime time TV shows had a morality at their base, with the Sheriff and Miss Kitty helping a poor family without enough to eat, or Ben Cartwright and sons taking on the town for their discrimination against an African American.

Now young people are brought up on Reality TV, with its continual messages of "eat the competitor or be eaten."

It is very noticeable how far as a society we have fallen when you pay attention to Presidential Debates. Anyone who ever gets a chance to watch the 1960  Kennedy/Nixon debates should do so. The two men laid out their ideas, and encouraged or attacked each other's concepts of what needed to be done. No time limits - just pure discussion and debate. Now our Presidential debates are all jingoistic "America is the greatest nation on earth," etc.

Back when we were the greatest nation on earth, we citizens and our politicians didn't have the need to mention it every other sentence or so.

Offer your heart some Joy every day of your life, and spread it along to others.
